World Water Day: Magsaysay cleans coastal area

Taking part in the celebration of World Water Day, Mayor Jun Jun Tria of Municipality of Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro spearheaded the coastal cleanup drive in two barangays, March 19.

Local government employees, uniformed personnel, barangay officials, and civic society organizations like PGBI, AKRO and Tau Gramma Phi volunteered to clean the coastal areas in Brgy. Sta. Teresa and Brgy. Sibalat.

Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Ranulfo Limos took the helm of organizing said event with the intention of protecting the coastal areas in the municipality.

According to, this years theme focuses on valuing water.

The value of water is about much more than its price – water has enormous and complex value for our households, food, culture, health, education, economics and the integrity of our natural environment.

It further adds that by overlooking the value of water, we risk mismanaging this finite, irreplaceable resources.

The drive made by Magsaysay LGU not only maintained the orderliness and cleanliness of the coastal areas. It is also aimed at safeguarding the quality of sea water and thereby assuring protection and conservation of marine life within and beyond its municipal waters.
