The Sangguniang Panlalawigan extension office at the Municipality of San Jose (District 2) has opened its door to accommodate frontliners assigned at San Jose District Hospital, Tuesday, March 31.
In the past few days, social media got bloated with stories of health frontliners being denied access at check point areas.
Some health care workers were even posting their sentiments on how they are being discriminated and denied services by public transportation sector. Worst, people at grocery stores or even the people in their own barangay would have their piercing eyes darted deep on them.
But that’s no where close to what Sangguniang Panlalawigan have in mind. For the august body, frontliners are to be elated with respect and recognition being everyone’s first line of defense against the spread of COVID-19 in Occidental Mindoro.

Thus, Vice Gov. Peter Alfaro let go of the keys and opened the doors of Sangguniang Panlalawigan extension office for the frontliners.

Meanwhile, according to Ms. Edna Cruz, publisher of Mindoro Guardian and works with Vice Gov. Alfaro on humanitarian projects, around fifteen (15) health workers or nurses are taking refuge at Sangguniang Panlalawigan office.

Said health workers are currently assigned at San Jose District Hospital who are also from the Municipality of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
Ms. Cruz also lamented the fact that some tricycle drivers would refuse to give San Jose District Hospital nurses and health workers a lift whenever they are hailed for their services.
Or in some cases, they would charge a hefty amount of transportation fare.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan extension office has two (2) function rooms with air conditioning system and another function room.
The frontliners were given free will to make a good use of any of them.

Earlier this morning, as per Vice Gov. Alfaro’s instructions, a sack of rice and other food items were provided to the health workers.
Provided ng SJDH ang daily foods nila. Pero nagpadala na rin ako ng 10 kilo ng bigas. Nagpadala na rin tayo ng longganisa at tocino. Kahit man lang sa breakfast eh maging maayos para sa kanila.

Given their current situation, Board Member Sonia Pablo also chipped in P5,000.00 for their foods, snacks and other needs.
