Acting on the request of Cong. Josephine Sato, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has extended until June 30, 2022, the allowable maximum gross weight for certain RORO vehicles going in and out of the Province of Occidental Mindoro.
This was also announced by Cong. Sato on her Facebook page post, July 6.

The memorandum issued to Port Managers of Mindoro and Batangas, dated July 6, 2021, and signed by Vice Chairman and General Manager of Philippine Ports Authority Jay Daniel R. Santiago reads:
“This refers to the attached letter dated June 23, 2021 of Congresswoman Josephine “Nene” V. Ramirez Sato, Representative, Lone District, Occidental Mindoro, addressed to Secretary Arthur P. Tugade of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) appealing the extension of the grant by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) of provisional increase in the weight of trucks going in and out of the Province of Mindoro’.
Santiago added that the ‘extension will be an important lifeline’ and will ‘provide significant relief to the consumers and the agriculture sector’ who rely heavily on the truckers in the Province.
The ‘temporary maximum allowable weight’ is much higher than those stated at PPA Administrative Order No. 05-2020.
As per Santiago’s memorandum, the temporary allowable weight limits for trucks are as follows:
Gross Weight (kg) Under
PP AO No. 05-2020
|Truck with 2 Axles (6wheels)||18,000||23,000|
|/truck with Tandem Rear Axle 3 Axles (10 wheels)||33,300||38,000|
|Truck with Tridem Rear Axle 4 Ales (14 wheels)||35,600||40,600|
|Truck Semi Trailer with 2 Axles at Motor Vehicle & 1 Axle at Trailer (10 wheels)||34,000||39,000|
|Truck Semi Trailer with 2 Axles at Motor Vehicle & 2 Axles at Trailer (14 wheels)||40,600||45,600|
|Truck Trailers with 2 Axles at Motor Vehicle & 2 Axles at Trailer (14 wheels)||39,700||44,700|
With this, consumers and traders are now ensured of a continuous flow of products and merchandise from one province to another.
Netizens thanked Cong. Sato for her efforts to address the issue. Had it not been resolved, it will cripple the Province’s economy.
