It is to be remembered that Occidental Mindoro’s cases ballooned to thirty-seven (37) after 26 of 51 construction workers in the Municipality of Magsaysay, May 29, tested positive to Covid-19. This was then followed by one after another with some more recovering.

Dubbed as Magsaysay26, no one however was sanctioned. Neither the Provincial Government nor DPWH Occidental Mindoro District Engineering Office held anyone accountable after one Covid-19 positive construction worker, along with others, was able to reach the Municipality of Mamburao.

As per DPWH’s own directive, construction workers should undergo swab testing before returning to work. As per health protocol at one hand, those subjected to swab testing should be quarantined until their health status was confirmed.

Throughout the quarantine period, Oksi had only one death case due to Covid-19 although the result of his test was received by Provincial Health Office after he passed away.
