The Municipality of Looc, Occidental Mindoro was officially declared a DRUG – FREE MUNICIPALITY by MIMAROPA Drug Council after nine of its barangays were also declared DRUG – FREE BARANGAYS, June 25.
Led by Looc Mayor Ben Tria, the panel were convinced to make such declaration after the presentation made by his Municipal Chief of Police Cabatin.

The panel particularly paid attention on the programs implemented by Tria administration in dealing with drug pushers/users, the measures implemented to prevent the proliferation of drugs in the municipality, as well as the programs implemented to reform the drug pushers/users.
The presentation made by the Municipality of Looc:
According to Mayor Tria, the number of drug users increased because they voluntarily surrendered. Significantly, the surrenderees include those who were users in the last ten of fifteen years on the fear of being subjected to “Tokhang” procedures by the authorities. But over-all, there were only limited numbers of drug users.



The nine (9) barangays declared as drug – free were Agkawayan, Ambil Tabo and Tambo, Balikyas, Bonbon (Poblacion), Bulacan, Burol, Guitna (Poblacion), Kanluran (Poblacion), and Talotao.
The Council consisted of Gov. Alfonso V. Umali (Oriental Mindoro), DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, PNP-Occidental Mindoro Provincial Director PSInsp. Romie A. Estepa, PDEA MIMAROPA OIC – Regional Director Mario DA Ramos, Occidental Mindoro Gov. Mario Gene Mendiola, DOH MIMAROPA DMO IV Ramon C. Bombais, and DILG MIMAROPA Provincial Director Ulysses E. Feraren.



Occidental Mindoro Vice Gov. Peter Alfaro also attended the validation process.
