Fifty-five (55) beneficiaries from Brgy. Manoot in the Municipality of Rizal, Occidental Mindoro will now have a secured future after having been granted a Certificate of Stewardship Contract for the next twenty-five (25) years by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) MIMAROPA Region through CENRO-San Jose.
“Mapalad po kayo dahil pambihirang pribilehiyo po ang ibinigay sa inyo ng pamahalaan na iilan lamang ang nabiyayaan upang pangalagaan ninyo at mapakinabangan ng libre ang lupa. Kaya pag-ingatan po natin ito”
This was stressed by San Jose OIC, CENRO Efren L. delos Reyes in his message during the distribution of renewed Certificate of Stewardship Contract (CSC) to 55 existing holders on July 8, 2020 at Barangay Manoot, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro.

The issuance of the Certificate of Stewardship Contract or CSC grants an individual or families that are actually occupying or tilling a portion of forestlands the stewardship rights pursuant to LOI 1260 for the period of 25 years and renewable for another 25 years. The holders possess the privilege to decide on how they will use their areas with the assurance that it upholds sustainable development.
“Hinihikayat ko po kayong magtanim ng puno sa inyong mga lupa upang makatulong din sa pagtungon sa mga usaping pangkapaligiran gaya ng Climate Change. Maliban po sa inyong mga sinasaka ay magbigay po kayo ng lugar para magtanim ng puno”, added delos Reyes as he expressed his encouragement to cover their areas with trees that they can benefit from in the future.
The renewal of the CSC was decided based on the result of the assessment conducted by the assessment team consists of the DENR PENRO and CENRO personnel and concerned Barangay LGU representative. Consultation meetings with interview, re-survey of area and further evaluation was made to verify the holder’s qualifications for renewal.
The distribution of renewed CSC was attended by the Barangay Manoot Officials, Office of the Provincial Governor represented by Mr. Voltaire Valdez, the CSC recipients and was spearheaded by DENR-CENRO San Jose personnel headed by OIC, CENRO Efren L. delos Reyes.
